For Authors

Law & Society in Transition particularly welcomes scholarship that is original, critical, interdisciplinary, and future-oriented. The Journal encourages authors not only to analyse existing legal systems but also to question established assumptions and explore how law can respond to the complex challenges of the twenty-first century and beyond. The journal invites scholars, practitioners, researchers, and emerging academics to contribute to the continuing conversation on law, society, and transition.

Authors should submit manuscripts in accordance with the journal's prescribed formatting, citation, word-limit, and submission requirements. Each submission should be accompanied by the required author information and an abstract, where applicable.

Law & Society in Transition is a bi-annual, peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal, published in January and July, dedicated to exploring the transformation of law and legal institutions in response to global, technological, social, and political change.

The journal welcomes rigorous, original, and forward-looking scholarship that examines how law adapts, evolves, and responds to emerging challenges and changing social realities.

Scope of the Journal

The journal particularly encourages submissions addressing:

· Emerging and developing areas of law

· Legal and systemic reforms

· Transitional justice and post-conflict legal processes

· Law, society, and social transformation

· Technology, innovation, and the future of law

· Constitutional and institutional change

· Human rights and access to justice

· Governance, public policy, and regulatory transformation

· Interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary legal issues

· Critical perspectives on established legal frameworks

· New and innovative approaches to justice, governance, and social order

· Comparative and international perspectives on legal transformation

The manuscript should be prepared in a manner suitable for double-blind peer review, where required, with identifying information removed from the main manuscript.

Originality of Submission

· Manuscripts must be original and unpublished.

· A manuscript submitted to the journal should not simultaneously be under consideration by another journal or publication.

· Authors must disclose any substantial overlap with previously published or submitted work.

· All sources, quotations, data, and ideas borrowed from other works must be appropriately acknowledged.

Interdisciplinary Scholarship

The journal strongly encourages submissions that move beyond traditional doctrinal analysis and engage with sociology, political science, philosophy, economics, technology, history, public policy, and other relevant disciplines.

Submissions should demonstrate a clear connection between the legal issue examined and its broader social, institutional, technological, or political context.

Peer Review

· All eligible research manuscripts are subject to a peer-review process.

· Manuscripts are initially screened by the editorial team for relevance, originality, academic quality, and compliance with the journal's submission requirements.

· Suitable manuscripts are subsequently evaluated by independent reviewers.

· The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editorial Board.

Ethical Standards

Authors are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and research ethics. Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct will not be tolerated.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

· All contributors who qualify for authorship are appropriately credited.

· All sources are properly cited.

· Any conflicts of interest are disclosed.

· Permissions are obtained where copyrighted material is reproduced.

· Research involving human participants, where applicable, complies with relevant ethical requirements.

Author Responsibilities

Authors should ensure that manuscripts:

· Present a clear and well-defined research question or argument.

· Demonstrate originality and scholarly significance.

· Engage meaningfully with relevant literature.

· Use appropriate research methodology.

· Maintain clarity, coherence, and academic rigour.

· Follow the journal's prescribed citation and formatting style.

· Contain accurate references and citations.

· Are carefully proofread before submission.
